Corbett Tiger Reserve
Corbett National Park is the first national park
in India. The park is home to antelopes, deer, primates and other animals
such as jackols, foxes, civet's wild boar, sloth bear and bvalck bear. A
variety of snakes, such as cobra and python, live in the thick foliage.
Corbett is also renowned for the numerous species of birds that are found
here, this number is greater than the total number of birds species found in
Europe! Dense sal forests provide ideal nestling grounds for resident birds
such as eagles, owls, bulbuls, mackpies, babblers, fly cahtchers,
woodpeckers, storkbilled kingfisher, wallcreeper and many others. The
Mahaseer is a key indicator of a healthy eco-system. Fishing is permitted on
the Ramganga River between 1st Oct to 30th June.

» Air : Nearest airport is Pantnagar in district Nainital 97kms from
Ramnagar.
» Rail: Ramnagar & Kathgodam are a convenient rail head for the
park and are connected to Delhi and Lucknow by express trains.
» Road: State transport busses ply regularly from New Delhi, Moradabad
and Haldwani to Ramnagar. The entry gate of the park are Amdana, Dhangarh,
Durgadevi on Ramnagar Marchula road, Kharagate, Kalagarh, Pakhrau or
Ramnagar- Kotdwar forest road and Vatanvasa, Teria or Lansdowne Dunagiri
forest road.
Nanda Devi Sanctuary
Nanda Devi National Park is situated in the
eastern region of district Chamoli, at an elevation of 4555 mtrs spread over
an area of 630 sq kms surrounded by nearly seventy snow clad peaks. The
Sanctuary is in the form of a cup, with lush green meadows and gushing milky
water falls. The present National Park came into existence in 1939. A unique
mix flora & fauna is a characteristic of the park. The fauna includes
the Himalayan Brown and Black bears, Blue mountain Goat (Bharar), Snow
Leopards, Musk Deer etc. Nanda Devi National Park which has been declared a
world heritage site has been partially opened recently for restricted number
of tourist and to protect its biodiversity.

» Road: From Rishikesh to Joshimath 258kms drive followed by a further
drive of 25kms to the roadhead at lata village, where the trek begin 51kms
to the Sanctuary.
Kedarnath Sanctuary
Kedarnath Sanctuary is situated in Rudraprayag &
Chamoli district and lies in the sprawling 967 sqkm. It was established in
the year 1972.Garhwal Himalaya offers a breathtaking spectacular view of
snow clad mountains. This wild life includes Panther, Musk-Deer, Snow Cock,
Black & Brown Himalayan Bear, Sambhar, Ghoral and some species of
Himalayan birds.

» Road: The road to Kedarnath diverts from Rudrapryag and goes along
Mandkani River. The Road distance form Kedarnath is: Rambara is 7Kms,
Gaurikund 14Kms trek; Guptkashi 47Kms, Chopta 87Kms, Mandal 113kms and
Gopeswar 126Kms. Gaurikund, the starting point of the 14 Kms trek to
Kedarnath, Gaurikund is connected by direct bus service to Rishikesh,
Haridwar, Dehradun and Rishikesh.
Govind Wild Life Sanctuary
Govind wild life Sanctuary & National Park is
situated in a remote area in the district Uttarkashi. It is an oldest wild
life sanctuary in northern India. The area is covered with snow during
winter. A vast variety of rare and endangered species of medicinal plants
are prevalent in the Sanctuary. The wild variety of animal species that
lives here includes Himalayan Black-Brown Bear, Snow Monal, Snow Leopard,
Musk Dear, Himalayan Thar, Mountain Goat, Golden Eagle, Mahashere are the
most significant fishes found in the sanctuary. There are over 150 species
of birds and 25 species of Mammals.

» Road: The entry gate of the sanctuary is located at Naitwar which
may be approached from Dehradun, Purola, Tiuini, Vikasnagar, Uttarkashi and
Shimla. Talukak is the last motor head which is 24Kms from entry gate
Naitwar. The trek begins at Taluka 14Kms to Osla from where Sanctuary
starts.
Askot Wild Life Sanctuary
Askot Sanctuary is situated in the lush green
district of Pithoragarh which adds to its pristine beauty. The area is rich
for its sal, oak and pine forests and numerous waterfalls. The highlights of
the Sanctuary are Snow Leopard, Himalayan Black Bears, Musk Deer, Snow
Cocks, Bharals Munal, Chirs, Kokals and Chukor are the main attraction of
the sanctuary.
Askot Wild Life Sanctuary
» Air : Nearest airport is Naini Saini, Pithoragarh 51kms.
» Rail: Nearest rail head is Tanakpur 203kms.
» Road: Askot is accessible by road via Tanakpur- Pithoragarh or via
Haldwani- Almora. Askot is 53kms from Pithoragarh.
Rajaji National Park
Rajaji Park is situated at the edge of the Doon
valley. The park is essentially a protected forest that covers an area of
about 820sqkms. The most famous resident of this park is the Asia Elephant,
and this park is also home to the Tiger, Panther, wild boar, cheetal,
sambhar, himalayan bear, kakar, python and different types of lizards and
birds. Established on August 1983, Rajaji National Park was created by the
amalgamation of three wild life sanctuaries viz. Rajaji, Motichur and
Chilla. King Cobra is a very special inhabitant of Rajaji National Park and
over 300 species of birds are also found in the park. Elephant rides are
conducted between morning and evening.

» Road: Dehradun, Haridwar, & Rishikesh is well connected by motor
road, with Delhi, Harayana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
There are eight entry gates of the park such as Mohand, Asarori, Ramgarh on
Delhi-Dehradun Highway and Kunnao, Chilla and Laldhang on Laldhang-Rishikesh
motor road and Ranipur, Motichur and Cheering cross on Haridwar-Dehradun
road.
Valley of Flowers
The valley is in a conical shape, it lies to the
east of Badrinath in district Chamoli. The Valley of Flowers is nearly 5kms
in length, 2kms in width and concave in shape and an elevation ranging from
3658mts to 3962mts had the largest collection of wild flower species. This
valley had been known to the inhabitants as the Bhuiyandar valley. More than
300 species of wild flowers are seen during the monsoon season.
The valley also inhabits the place for the Himalayan Black Bear, Musk Deer,
Snow Leopard, Bharal, Serow and an amazing variety of butter flies. In the
winter the valley freezes with the view of heavenly glacier. The entire
valley lies beneath like polished steel. The Meadows get quilted under thick
layers of snow.

19kms from Joshimath and 23kms shor of Badrinath.
